How it works

Four steps. Under 60 seconds. A real person at the other end.

Sweatty connects you with a verified training partner who matches your sport, schedule, and level. We do the matching. You decide who you train with, where, and when. The steps below are the entire flow — there is nothing hidden behind a paywall.

1

Tell us what you train and how often.

Pick your sports (you can pick more than one — running, climbing, padel, lifting, yoga, swim, cycling, boxing, and a dozen more). Tell us your level honestly. Drop in the days and times that actually work for you, not the days you wish worked. The whole onboarding is under two minutes.

What we ask of you: answer honestly. "Beginner who runs a 7-min mile" is more useful than "intermediate" with no detail.

What we don't do: we never share your phone number, home address, or payment info with a match. Your real identity stays inside Sweatty.

2

Get matched in under 60 seconds.

The matching engine reads your sport, level, schedule, and rough location, then surfaces compatible partners who are also actively looking. Every profile you see is verified — email, phone, and a liveness photo check. No bots. No empty profiles. No "joined yesterday, never came back."

What we ask of you: read the profile before you reach out. Schedule and level matter more than vibe.

What we don't do: we never rank profiles by attractiveness, take body measurements, or use your photo for anything other than verification.

3

Confirm a session. Meet at a public place.

Pick a time, pick a venue, confirm both sides are in. For first sessions we suggest a public gym, a park, or a class — somewhere with other people around. You message through the app, not your personal number. If the match cancels or no-shows, that goes on their record and affects future matches.

What we ask of you: show up on time. If you can't, cancel inside the app, not by ghosting.

What we don't do: we don't guarantee your partner's behaviour and we don't run background checks (be honest, read the FAQ on this). Meet in public, trust your gut, and use the in-app report button if something feels wrong.

4

Rate the session. Build a streak.

After every session both sides rate each other on three things: showed up, matched the stated level, easy to train with. That's it. The ratings shape who you see next. Stack three solid sessions in a row and you unlock a regular slot with the same partner — most of the consistency gains come from this, not from constantly finding new people.

What we ask of you: rate honestly, even if it's awkward. Quiet "fine" ratings let bad actors stay in the pool.

What we don't do: we don't post your ratings publicly or show them to the partner you rated. Reviews are aggregated, not attributed.

Match scoring — what we use, what we don't

The matching engine is built around five signals. None of them is your photo, your weight, or anything to do with attractiveness.

We use

  • + Location (rough — postcode or area, not exact address)
  • + Sport(s) you train
  • + Level — beginner, intermediate, advanced, plus any honest detail you add
  • + Schedule — days, times, recurring patterns
  • + Language — so you can actually talk to each other mid-session

We do not use

  • × Photos for any romantic-intent ranking
  • × Attractiveness scoring of any kind
  • × Body measurements, weight, or body composition
  • × Income, profession, or social network
  • × Anything from outside Sweatty (no third-party data sharing in)

Sweatty connects. You decide. We are not a coach, not a chaperone, and not a substitute for your own judgment about who is safe to train with. We give you verified profiles, accountability ratings, public-meeting prompts, an in-app reporting flow, and a default of meeting at a gym or a park. The rest is yours.
